建国三十五年来,档案工作同我国其它战线一样,也取得了辉煌成就:社会主义的国家档案工作已经建立、发展起来,档案对社会主义各项事业发挥着重要作用。同半封建半殖民地的旧中国比较,社会主义的国家档案工作,有许多重要的特点和优越性。旧中国的档案工作是为反动统治服务的,档案没有统一的管理。机关各自为政,方法五花八门。档案任其自生自灭。档案人员不受重视。故宫文献馆是一个仅有的档案馆性质的单位,但是只有少数研究人员重视它。旧中国档案工作的落后状况,是由于政治、经济、文化落后的必然结果。在那样的条件下,档案工作要单独得到发展,是不可能的。
For thirty-five years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the archival work, like other fronts in our country, has also achieved brilliant achievements. The work of filing the socialist national archives has been established and developed. Archives play an important role in all undertakings of socialism. Compared with the old feudal semi-colonial China, the socialist archives work has many important features and advantages. Archives in the old China served for the reactionary rule, and the archives did not have a unified management. Organizations in their own hands, methods vary. File letting itself go. Archivists are not taken seriously. The Forbidden City Museum is the only unit of archival character, but only a few researchers value it. The backwardness of old archives in China is due to the inevitable result of political, economic and cultural backwardness. Under such conditions, it is impossible for file work to be developed alone.
