Few women hold important positions in Hollywood. The number of female executives in Hollywood lags far behind other male-dominated industries, including the military, technology, finance, government, science and construction industries. In 2013, only 1.9% of directors in the top 100 box-office films at Hollywood were female. And in 2011, women occupied 7.1% of U.S. military generals and admirals, 20% of U.S. Senate seats, and over 20% of Twitter and Facebook leaders - and now both face gender discrimination litigation.
