对于民族院校来说,贯彻党的十六大精神,实现党中央提出的全面建设小康社会的奋斗目标,最根本的就是要以实际行动贯彻“三个代表”重要思想,为少数民族和民族地区全面建设小康社会提供强有力的人才和智力支持,培养德智体美全面发展的高素质专门人才。民族院校要适应少数民族和民族地区全面建设小康社会的需要,把贯彻十六大精神同落实第五次全国民族教育工作会议和《国务院关于深化改革,加快发展民族教育的决定》(以下简称《决定》)精神结合起来,把实现民族高等教育的跨越式发展作为第一要务,切实开创民族高等教育事业和学校各项工作的新局面。

The national institutions of higher learning should meet the needs of the minority nationalities and ethnic areas in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and carry out the spirit of the 16th CPC National Congress in conjunction with the implementation of the Fifth National Conference on Ethnic Education and the Decision of the State Council on Deepening Reform and Accelerating the Development of Ethnic Education “Decision”), take the development of national higher education by leaps and bounds as the first priority, and earnestly create a new situation in higher education for ethnic minorities and all kinds of work in schools.
