The shelling of the Golden Gate in 1958 was an important event in the process of breaking the Sino-Soviet relations. The shelling of Kinmen embodies the new view of the CPC leaders on international issues and the remarkable changes in their diplomatic strategies during this period and is a concrete practice of Mao Zedongs “revolutionary diplomacy.” There is a fundamental disagreement between this kind of thinking and practice and the general line of foreign policy of the socialist countries in Khrushchev. The shelling has seriously damaged the Sino-Soviet alliance, further deepening the contradictions and differences between the two sides and prompting the Soviet leaders to decide to stop providing nuclear weapons to China, thus becoming one of the important symbols of the openness of Sino-Sudan conflicts and differences and the rapid deterioration of the relations between the two countries .
