随着近年来广东经济的快速发展,呈现京港澳高速公路粤北段的通行能力已远远不能适应省际交通快速增长的需求。京港澳高速公路粤北段通过平均海拔高约750米(最高海拔约达806米)的高寒山区,公路坡度大、坡距长,路面极易在寒冷天气下结冰。2008年初,一场历史罕见的特大冰雪横扫我国南方,使贯通我国南北交通的大动脉京港澳高速公路受阻严重,冰雨雪灾将数百万归心似箭的人们困在旅途上。
With the rapid economic development in Guangdong in recent years, the capacity of presenting the Yuebei section of the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway is far behind the rapid growth of inter-provincial traffic. The Yuebei section of the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway passes an alpine mountainous area with an average altitude of about 750 meters (up to an altitude of about 806 meters). The road has a large slope and long slope. The road surface can freeze easily in cold weather.
