以作物秸秆覆盖棉田，可抑制杂草，减少中耕，保护蕾铃，省工节能，同时，改善土壤特性，提高养分供给能力。秸秆覆盖后，棉田土壤水分、温度动态变化不同于非覆盖田，其温、湿度得到较合理的调节，利于棉花生长发育，实现“节水”、“培肥”、“高产”并举。试验证实，秸秆覆盖量以４５００～６０００ｋｇ·ｈｍ－２为宜。棉田实行秸秆覆盖的综合效益显著优于地膜覆盖。
