Dr. Pakula asks: According to the order of vaccination, a healthy 2-month-old baby boy is first vaccinated with DTP and his mother is very worried that he will have a DTP response because 5 siblings of her baby have emerged after DTP or DT vaccination Fever and local reactions (including edema, erythema and pain) .This response is self-limiting, with one child having swollen, tenderness for 4 days on the whole arm.Is there any need for routine vaccination for this child with a clear family history? What tests (such as skin tests) can help determine if this baby will react? What preventives or drugs can be used to reduce post-vaccination reactions?
