China has become a populous country with a large population of diabetics. The number of adults with diabetes is estimated at over 100 million and may have reached the “warning level.” Researchers report in the JAMA. Shanghai Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Shanghai Institute of Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, a research team based on China’s chronic non-communicable diseases monitoring system, in 2010 selected a representative of nearly 100,000 (98,658 ) Adults aged 18 and over conducted a survey and conducted blood sugar tests for participants. Based on the survey results, the researchers believe that the prevalence of diabetes in Chinese adults has risen to 11.6%, of which the prevalence of diabetes in men was 12.1%, the prevalence of women was 11.0%.
