广选早是我区早稻早熟当家品种。它在生产上推广使用已经上十年了,但至今仍是我区早稻良种区域化试验早熟组的对照品种。它曾被评选参加我区和全国农业展览馆展出,是我地区和自治区农业科研成果之一。广选早表现矮杆、早熟、高产、适应性广。十多年来,在玉林地区沿江低洼田栽培,可以避过龙舟水的为害;作晚稻秧田前作栽培和与中、迟熟品种搭配栽培,可合理调节农时活动,提高复种指数。推广广选早以来,对增产粮食和促进农业的全年丰收起了一定的作用。据统计,玉林地区推广面积最高年份达九十七万亩,最高亩产跨“纲要”。如玉林地区农业学校翻秋繁殖2.11亩。
