《新概念英语》的作者 L.G.Alexander 说:“教师不应当把努力的方向定在供给学生以语言知识的基础上,而应当定在供给学生以使用语言的能力上。学生是否掌握一种语言最终要靠他使用得如何,而不是知道得多少来进行估量。”又说:“从学习者的观点来看,在语言结构中处理词的技能才是掌握语言的关键。因为在句型中所传达的意义大多取决于词在结构中能否起互相搭配的作用。”我相信很多教师都会同意这种观点,并在教学中也在这样摸索着。
LGAlexander, author of New Concept English, said: “Teachers should not set their efforts on the basis of providing students with linguistic knowledge, but rather on the ability of students to use language. It depends on how well he is using rather than how much he knows about it. ”He added:“ From a learner’s point of view, the ability to handle words in a language structure is the key to mastery of the language. The meaning of communication depends largely on the ability of the words to function in the structure. ”I believe many teachers agree with this view and are groping in teaching.
