书与画书画同源。李苦禅老对二者的关系,曾有高屋建瓴的概括。他说:书到高时是画,画到高时是书。这是一般人难以企及的境界。以我的理解,苦老这两句话博大精深,既有艺术的辩证法,又含审美的原则。我在谈到小说或文章时,也曾说过:好的文章都是先做加法,后做减法。前者讲的是积累,后者讲的是提炼。
