TCP/IP协议历来是处理网络上数据传输的通用语言,iSCSI和远程直接内存访问(RDMA)等最新标准更使其成为存储和群集领域的首选协议。然而,传统的TCP/IP技术在处理数据传输的过程中需要占用大量的服务器资源,因此,由特定的软件和集成的硬件组合而成的、一种称之为TOE(TCP Offload Engine.TCP负荷缓解引擎)的技术便应运而生了,它能缓解服务器的处理负荷。TOE技术对TCP/IP堆栈进行了软件扩展,使部分TCP/IP功能调用从CPU转移到了网卡上集成的TOE硬件。这种方法使操作系统得以把TCP/IP数据流全部卸载到TNIC的专用硬件上,服务器只负责TCP/IP控制决策。基于数据通路卸载架构的这一方案得到了大多数操作系统厂商的欢迎。
The TCP / IP protocol has traditionally been the common language for data transfer over the network and the latest standards such as iSCSI and Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) make it the protocol of choice in storage and clustering. However, the traditional TCP / IP technology takes up a lot of server resources in the process of data transmission. Therefore, a combination of specific software and integrated hardware called a TOE (TCP Offload Engine.TCP load Mitigation engine) technology came into being, it can ease the server’s processing load. TOE technology software extensions to the TCP / IP stack, the transfer of some TCP / IP function calls from the CPU to the TOE hardware integrated on the network card. This method allows the operating system to completely offload TCP / IP data streams to TNIC’s dedicated hardware, and the server is solely responsible for TCP / IP control decisions. This scheme based on data path offload architecture is popular with most operating system vendors.
