剑起源于商代,剑的主要作用是防身自卫,利于近战。同时,剑的制作精美、舞韵潇洒,并随着武术的不断发展逐渐成为尚武的标志和身份的象征。剑作为中华武术兵器之一有着悠久的历史,其发展较早,流传甚广。随着历史的变迁,武术的发展,剑术也逐渐多样化,剑的文化特征得到了极大的丰富。剑因其身薄体轻,在战场上的攻击力不大,逐渐被战争所排斥。但战争对剑的排斥并未使其绝迹,相反,武术的发展使剑具有了更为丰富的理论内涵与文化特征。
