The Sustainability Grand Prix, sponsored by the Swiss-based Sustainable Construction Foundation headquartered in Switzerland, is held every three years to encourage sustainable solutions to issues related to building and construction. The Grand Prix has five major divisions around the world. The categories of entries include architecture and civil engineering; landscapes, urban planning and infrastructure; materials, products and construction technology. The competition also set the new generation prize for young contestants in recognition of their foresight and sustainable building concepts and solutions. In previous competitions, a number of architects in the Chinese region won awards in the Asia Pacific region and the world.
