The dynamic characteristics of S195 diesel engine body are studied by dynamic finite element method and experimental modal analysis. The results of two methods are compared from the natural frequency and mode shape, and the two are basically the same. Through the simulation of the forced response of the structure, the failure mechanism in actual use was analyzed from the deformation data of each part. The results show that the finite element analysis technology is reliable and effective in predicting the dynamic characteristics and deformation of the structure of the body
