Canada McCaw Lin Magazine / June 2, 2014 Zhang Zhen Sheng was once a North Korea’s official laureate poet. He wrote epic poems for “Dear Leader” Kim Jong Il and was responsible for espionage of the ROK. In 2004, he defected to South Korea after committing the mistake of “treason.” Recently, Zhang published a monograph and interviewed by magazines. The following is an excerpt from the interview: In North Korea, many government agencies are scrambling to write epic poems for top leaders. The task I received was to use the modus operandi of South Korea to praise Kim Jong Il as the legitimate leader of the Korean Peninsula and the government of South Korea as an illegal government.
