在中南海毛泽东故居的菊香书屋里,摆放着大批中国古典诗词方面的书籍,给每个前来瞻仰的人留下了深刻的印象.建国以后,毛泽东同志在繁忙的工作之余,孜孜不倦地阅读大量的古典诗词,关心中国古典诗词这一珍贵文化遗产的继承和发展,探讨中国诗歌的发展方向.他和当时任《诗刊》主编的臧克家同志的面谈和书信往来,反映着毛泽东同志对发展中国新诗的深刻见解.
