很久以来,新西兰就把它们的森林明确地区分为两部分:一部分是七百万公顷的天然林,生产全国木材总产量的百分之二十,这部分森林的主要作用是保护生态,发挥森林景观和游憩等作用;另一部分是一百万公顷的辐射松人工林,生产全国百分之八十的木材。前者是后者的屏障和补充。
For a long time New Zealand had clearly divided its forest into two parts: one part is seven million hectares of natural forest, which produces 20% of the total timber output in the country. The main role of this part of the forest is to protect the ecology and play its role as a forest Landscape and recreation; the other part is a million hectares of Pinus radiata plantation producing 80% of the country’s timber. The former is the latter’s barrier and supplement.
