Lattice energy is the energy released by the positive and negative ions of one mole of ionic compound from the gaseous phase separated into ion crystals. The Born-Lande equation is widely used in the theoretical calculations of lattice energy, which contains a dimensionless structural characteristic constant Madelung constant M.
