This report is drawn from the work of a committee that held several rallies from 1969 to 1970. It is not officially commissioned by any computer user or computer designer organization. It was entirely established and chaired by J. C. Butssard and J.J. Duby in their own private names. 0.1. The purpose of this report The purpose of the committee is to create an opinion of “upright informatics practitioners” on the language ALGOL68 and its application in programming practice. As for this purpose statement, we elaborate on the main points as follows: 0.1.1. Observations from honest informatics practitioners Advocates of the Commission made a great effort to collect representatives of different branches of informatics People: designers, science users, business people, university faculty and service departments. They also strive to collect those who are interested in programming languages from different perspectives: including definition, implementation and application.
