The traditional Chinese medicine occupies a certain position in the international pharmaceutical trade. China exports 16 billion US dollars of traditional Chinese medicines and Chinese patent medicines and Chinese medicine health products each year, accounting for about 5% of the world’s market share of herbal medicines. It is relatively rare as “therapeutic drugs”, only 6 Billion dollars or so. In recent years, the adverse reactions of drug-derived diseases caused by chemical synthesis have increased. The international community has called for returning to nature and advocating natural products and green products. The world has gradually formed “Chinese herbal medicine fever.” After China’s accession to the WTO, China’s pharmaceutical market will face fierce competition. The original traditional Chinese medicine industry’s products, management, and scientific and technological level are obviously still far behind the standards and requirements of the international pharmaceutical mainstream market. At the same time, Japan, South Korea, India, Thailand, and some western countries have applied high-tech research and developed traditional medicine to form a great threat to Chinese medicine, and therefore the international challenges faced by Chinese medicine are very severe.
