新中国自成立以来,金融事业日渐兴旺发达,乃至在世界上占有一定地位。人们不应忘记中共第一家国家银行,以及第一个从事金融工作的领导人——毛泽东之弟毛泽民(字润莲)。1932年1月某天,时任闽粤赣军区经济部部长的毛泽民来到中央苏区所在地——江西瑞金,走进中华苏维埃政府主席毛泽东的住宅。便问:“大哥,听说中央要我组建苏区银行是吗?”毛泽东笑着说:“润莲,你乐意从事这项新的工作?”毛泽民面有难色地说:“大哥,一无所有办银行,我有那个能耐吗?”“我看你是能够胜任这副重担的。”毛泽东忽然话锋一转:“不过也不容易,苏区几百万军民的家,柴米油盐酱醋茶,枪炮弹药梭镖叉,担子不轻啊!”他又深情地望了弟弟一眼说:“如果正式决定了,你打算怎么办?”“那还用说,服从组织安排观!”毛泽民知道大哥对他的信任,临别时说:“反正你帮我出主意就是。”兄弟相视一笑,握手而别。
