Objective: To study the protective effect of tanshinone IIA (Tan IIA) on hemorrhagic shock-renal reperfusion injury (HS-RRI) in rats. METHODS: Rat HS-RRI models were prepared using modified YU method. Thirty SD rats were randomly divided into high-dose Tan IIA group, middle-dose group, low-dose group, solvent control group and resuscitation 24 h group. Changes in serum urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (SCr), urine volume (UV), and histological changes at 24 h were observed at 3 h. RESULTS: Tan IIA reduced BUN and Scr at 3 h after reperfusion, and alleviated renal tissue pathological injury at 24 h. The best effect was at low dose, followed by medium and high doses. The effect on urine volume was not obvious. Conclusion: Tan IIA has a positive protective effect on HS-RRI.
