In the case of different heat treatments and various layers, different results have often been produced when studying residual stresses in boronized steel. We studied the carbon content of the boronizing steel, heat treatment procedures and composition of the infiltrated layer on the residual stress. In this test, the residual stress is measured by electric strain gauge and compared with the theoretical calculation using the continuous calculation of instantaneous stress. Specimens were y8 (T8) and 45 steel processed into a plate (60 × 10 × thickness, mm). Electrolyzed in a molten borax bath
