【Objective】 The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between the growth and reproduction of Mythimna separata (Walker) and the changes of major energy and metabolites of armyworms under variable temperature conditions. 【Method】 The eggs of the armyworm were placed in the light cycle of 14L: 10D, the temperature was 25 ℃ and 30 ℃, respectively, day constant temperature at 30 ℃, night 20 ℃ daily temperature kept under the conditions of observation record 25 ℃ and 30/20 ℃, the third instar larvae, the sixth instar larvae, the pupae and the adult of 1 day old were collected from 30 ℃ and 30/20 ℃, and their glycogen, trehalose and triglyceride Ester, and the activity of metabolizing enzymes such as trehalase, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase and 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase. 【Result】 The ovary development of 1-day-old female lag significantly lagged at 25 ℃ and 30/20 ℃ compared with the control at 30/20 ℃. However, the oviposition rate of the female was significantly higher than that of the control at 30 ℃ and 20 ℃ respectively. The content of glycogen, trehalose and triglyceride All of them were higher than those of 3rd and 6th instar larvae, and their energy content was lower in adult stage. The content of three kinds of energy substances in the armyworm fed with 30/20 ℃ daily temperature was significantly higher than that at 30 ℃ (the content of triglyceride in the sixth instar larva and the pupal stage was not significantly different at the two temperatures) The effect of four kinds of enzyme activity has significant difference. 【Conclusion】 Temperature changes have a significant impact on the growth and reproduction of armyworm. Mainly in the growth and development of armyworm to glucose metabolism; temperature will accelerate the metabolism of sugar, slow down part of the lipid metabolism stage of development, more conducive to the accumulation of energy substances.
