粉碎“四人帮”以后,特别是党的十一届三中全会以来,我们党在指导思想上已经完成了拨乱反正的任务。这一伟大的历史转折,也给历史学的研究带来了繁荣和发展,呈现出前所未有的兴旺景象。义和团运动史的研究,就是这繁茂史林中果实累累的一块丰收园地。在前进的道路上,许多同志都在思考一个问题:怎样将义和团运动史的研究,在现有的基础上再提高一步,深入一步。现在趁这次讨论会的机会,我愿意把一些很不成熟的想法提出来和同志们商量。我想,义和团运动史的研究,也同任何一门社会科学的研究一样,要使研究的内容

On the road to progress, many comrades are pondering the question of how to study the history of Boxer movement one step further and one step further on the existing basis. Now taking the opportunity of this seminar, I am willing to put forward some very immature ideas and comrades to discuss.
