创建于1946年的延安中学已经走过了半个多世纪的风雨历程,于1998年成为上海市现代化寄宿制高级中学之一,学校也因此迎来了新的发展机遇作为邓小平同志亲笔题写校名的学校,“延安人”本着“发扬传统、勇于探索、求实创新”的精神,积极参加上海市首批实验性示范性高中的创建工作,并在此过程中自觉将历史文化传统的积淀、时代精神和未来理想有机地融合起来,继承与发扬“延安”的办学特色。面对新世纪国际国内竞争加剧和知识经济挑战对人才发展的需要,全体“延安人”正在努力求索,寻找新的发展点 1999年,延安中学成为上海市首批创建实验性示范性高级中学的学校,并制定了三年发展规划。2002年学校的规划实施顺利通过上海市专家组的中期评审,并获得专家的一致肯定 这标志着延安中学的发展又上了一个新台阶。
