Ma Jian， Deputy Minister and member of the CPC Committee of State Security， is under internal investigation for suspected violation against law and discipline.
According to public files， Ma Jian graduated from Southwest Institute of Political Science and Law， and holds a concurrent post of Vice Chairman of China Law Society. Earlier reports indicated that Ma Jian use to be a promising candidate for the next Minister of State Security， one of the most powerful positions of Mainland China.
To date it is still not clear what has triggered the investigation， although it seems to be generally accepted that Ma Jian is involved in the manage- ment corruption of Founder Group， a technology company affiliated to Beijing University.
Sources say that Ma Jian is in charge of the counter-intelligence work of the Minister of State Security. He is also a close friend of the CEO of Founder Li You. It is said that Li You use to support one of Ma Jian’s family member financially in security business.
Among all the officials under internal investigation， Ma Jian has the highest rank in the state security system next only to Zhou Yongkang. Sources believe that some high level personnel changes in the State Security Ministry should be expected.
