Septic shock is the result of Gram-positive or -negative bacterial infections. Shock is defined as a systolic blood pressure of less than 50 mmHg for people with systolic blood pressure less than 90 mmHg or who had previously had hypertension. About one-third of patients with bacteremia experience septic shock, and their clinical characteristics are often different from those encountered with other types of shock-hypotension
