This article is the introductory part of “East Asia: Confucian Heritage and Its Adaptation to Modernity” (Princeton University 1991), edited by Rozman, a professor of sociology at Princeton University in the United States. The subject is translator added. The author emphasizes in this article that the key issue facing the world in the coming decades does not lie in whether Western capitalism and socialism in the North (Soviet Union) will prevail but whether Western capitalism can compete with the Confucian tradition in East Asia. Think that the rise of East Asia is the most serious non-military challenge to the West and the North in the modern history of mankind. Article many unique, thought-provoking. On the eve of the New Year’s Day, thanks to Professor Rozman presented this book, would like to thank you.
