为了选育出矮化抗风、丰产稳产、优质耐贮的香蕉新品种,以减少或解决香蕉产区台风造成的损失,并适应内外销对香蕉质量的需求,从1970年开始进行香蕉营养系的选种工作。通过多年的观察比较,选出了“74-1”和“63-1”两个优良香蕉新品系。经过品种比较试验和多点的中间试验,均表明这两个新品系后代的优良性状突出而稳定,1990年8月通过专家验收。该两品系在广东各地的试栽面积已达1400余亩,反映良好,目前正进一步扩大试栽。
