With the improvement of diagnostic tools, most gastric cancers can now be diagnosed correctly before treatment. However, diagnosis of early gastric cancer with a diameter of 1 cm or less is still difficult. This article discusses the diagnostic characteristics of 32 early-stage gastric cancers with a diameter equal to or less than 1 cm in 28 patients. “Micro-cancer” refers to early gastric cancer with a maximum diameter of 5 mm or less. “Small gastric cancer” refers to early gastric cancer with a diameter of 6-10 mm. Materials and methods; 28 cases of early gastric cancer with a diameter of less than 1 cm in 224 gastrectomy specimens from 1972 to 1983 in Japan were used as the analysis materials. Before the operation, the upper digestive tract was penetrated (including the pressurization method and the double contrast method), and the side view was conventionally used. If necessary, front view gastroscopy was also used. Have
