In the early 1960s, some people started to simulate the formation and evolution of sedimentary basins by using certain mathematical simulation methods. L.L. Sloss (1962) proposed a conceptual model of sedimentary basins, which was discussed in detail by J. W. Habaugh et al. (1970) and a computer program was prepared. This model is suitable for the deposition of clastic sediments on the continental shelf carried by the river flowing through the coastal plains to the sea. In this paper, we use this sedimentary model to simulate a gypsum salt lake sedimentary basin of about 1000 km2 in the southern part of the Huanghua depression in our country and obtain some preliminary results.
