1991年6月末,在吉林省教委主持召开的全省高教界庆祝中国共产党建党70周年大会上,一位荣获国家教委与国家科委授予的全国高校先进科技工作者的发言,不时引起全场与会同志的热烈掌声,大家深深地被发言人的坎坷经历及其奋斗自强的精神感染了。这位发言人就是享受省级劳模待遇的张海迪式人物、一等工伤致残者——吉林林学院副教授杨美和同志。
