Based on thin sections, X-ray diffraction analysis, granularity analysis, mercury injections, microscanning, porosity, permeability, core fluid sensitivity tests, and logging data, a new conditional crossplot method is put forward, which is used to determine clay mineral type and contents. The results show that K-TH crossplots can identify different combinations of clay minerals under the effect of feldspar and igneous rock fragments. Multi-variable linear regression method is used to determine clay contents at different intervals. This paper deals with the determination of reservoir sensitivity by logging data for the first time. Many parameters have been obtained by logging data such as quartz, feldspar, rock fragments, clay volume, montmorillonite, kaolinite, illite, chlorite, medium granulallty value, formation water salinity, composite poro-perm parameters, porosity, permeability, medium capillary radius values. The relationships betWeen reservoir sensitivities and the above factors are established by single variable regression method, and a new single variable regression coefficient weighted method is put forward used to predict reservoir sensitivity by logging data. The level by level logging processing results from the above method show that the fluid velocity sensitivity, fresh water sensitivity, salt water sensitivity, acid sensitivity, and alkali sensitivity are consistent with the core fluid sensitivity test results, and prove it feasible. This paper also deals with the problem of formation damage evaluation by nuclear magnetic resonance logging. A case example shows that T2 distribution and irreducible water relative volume curves can effectively reveal formation damage level and pore siT’Ucture around a borehole. After the calibration of mercury injection and ground nuclear magnetic resonance experiments, a level by level mercury injection derivative curves are obtained for the subsurface. Therefore, this method shows great promise in geological application. These results are a great aid to formation damage and reservoir protection, and important for borehole stability, mud content selection and modification, and smooth drilling.
