寻找独特非凡的植物作为盆景的素材是一个非常有意思的过程。对我来说,松树比其他的素材更有可能制作出一件好的盆景作品。我经常在山间徒步,寻找任何能做成独特盆景的树木。若有幸得到这种素材,会让我倍感鼓舞,寻找时精力会更加充沛。本文盆景所用的是一棵欧洲山松,2006年我在瑞士的阿尔卑斯山寻得。欧洲山松的生活习性跟苏格兰松树差不多,生命力非常顽强,比如它老枝干上可以长出新芽,松针也可以剪短,枝叶的疏密也可以调整,这类松树在移栽的时候不会受到很大影响。
