During the National Day, the Ministry of Communications invited 100 outstanding road maintenance workers nationwide to visit Beijing for the holidays. We interviewed one of them, Feng Haiying, a departmental model worker. She was dressed in neat road sweatshirts, seemed capable and agile, talking straightforward, every word and action are reminiscent of that famous opera Lyrics: “Who said that women are not as good as men.” At the age of 29, Feng Haiying replaced her father as a peasant representative in the Linzhang County Highway Station in Hebei Province. From then on, she began to live a new life while she was 35 years old.
