指甲是皮肤的一种无生命、半透明的衍生物,即指尖上面的角质物,有保护指尖作用。在正常情况下,指甲呈粉红色、平滑匀称地覆盖在富有血液的甲床上,甲根部为半月形的甲弧,呈灰白色。它来源于指甲基部的一种特殊化的皮肤细胞床,非常活跃,不停顿地生长、分裂、死亡,并不脱落而又不断地向指尖延伸,这就是指甲。
