阳泉市机械工业始于1907年成立的保晋公司。几绎军阀混战和日寇的掠夺摧残,到解放前夕,阳泉市的机械工业仅有9台破烂不堪的机床设备,解放后,阳泉的机械制造工业如雨后春笋,从小到大,从单一修配到整机制造,从古老传统工艺到自动程序控制,从单机生产到系列化产品制造,蓬蓬勃勃地发展起来。现在已逐步形成了有机电设备、运输设备、农业机械、仪表、水泵、化工机械、煤矿机械、建筑机械等结构完善、品种齐全、技术先进的多门类的机械装备工业体系。
