李士雄、江泽佳二位先辈在《电工教学》16卷2期、4期分别发表了对“Electrical En-gineering”译法的意见。二位大成之家所虑甚佳,我作为学生深受启发。因此,也冒昧谈谈我的一孔之愚见。 我倾向于将“Electrical Engineering”译成“电学工程”,简称“电学”(系)。 这主要是考虑到中国国情,当“电”和“工”两字连在一起时,便成“电工”。公众总在观念上将“电工”与“车工”“钳工”并列,而想不到是“电学工程”的简称。我读硕士的专业是“理论电工”。当时就曾遇到过有人不解,要听我解释后,对方才大悟。我专业的硕士生们在联系工作单位时也会遇到这个问题。因此,考虑到目前的国情,建议尽可能回避“电”“工”二字联在一起。

My master’s major is “Theoretical Electricians.” At that time, some people had never met before. After listening to my explanation, the other party realized it. My major’s masters also encounter this problem when they contact their work unit. Therefore, taking into account the current national conditions, it is recommended to avoid as much as possible the “electricity” and “workers” together.
