北部湾是南海西北部的一个半封闭海湾,湾顶(北面)是广西壮族自治区,东面为广东省的湛江市(雷州半岛)和海南省(海南岛),西面为越南。面积约12.93万平方千米。构建中的北部湾经济圈包括中国广西、广东、海南沿北部湾地区和越南北方沿海地区。就其中国部分而言,是继长三角、珠三角和环渤海三大沿海经济圈后的又一沿海区域经济板块,是泛珠三角区域经济的重要组成部分,还是西南地区商品出海的大通道。北部湾具有明显的区位优势。该海湾面向东南亚,背靠大西南,邻近港澳,毗邻越南。沿海港口既是我国滇、黔、蜀、桂4省区向南出海的最近通道,又是我国距东南亚各国最近的口岸,是促进中国与东盟全面合作的重要桥梁和基地。东盟10国中有9国为沿海国,海洋是这些国家联系外界的重要通道。而环北部湾地区正好介于东亚与东南亚之间,是重要的海上交通枢纽。从20世纪80年代开始,北部湾就已逐渐成为沟通中国、中南半岛与东南亚诸岛国的重要通道;北部湾海域是其环绕地区的天然联系纽带,海上运输便利,它本身又是地理经济学上所说的“一日区”(相隔最远的沿海港口直航一日可达)。北部湾沿岸诸城市除老挝外与东盟其他9个国家都有海上直接航线相连。这就使北部湾
Beibu Gulf is a semi-enclosed bay in the northwestern part of the South China Sea.
