Some people say that DB2 lacks a graphical management interface and its SQL functionality is not as complete as that of competitors. It cannot be fully integrated into TCP/IP networks. With DB2 UDB, IBM has silenced these claims. IBM rebranded its DB2 product line as DB2 UDB to reflect its current support for multimedia objects, but its biggest improvements are better parallel processing capabilities, graphical management tools, improved TCP/IP communication, and support for Java.
