在金属切削加工中,有时刀具不经过正常磨损而在很短时间内突然损坏以致失效。这种情况被称之为破损。破损将增大刀具消耗,导致出现废品,降低生产效率,提高加工成本,因此对生产影响很大。尤其在现代生产中的自动机床和自动生产线上,影响更大。破损原因的研究以及如何采用避免或减小刀具破损的措施,是与生产密切相关的一个问题,得到了普遍的重视和关心。
