《風雪兒女》(張忠远、馬令勋著)是本好書。从这部長篇小說里,我們可以看到,解放战爭初期,英勇不屈的人民怎样和正規部队、地方武裝配合协作,打垮了敌人疯狂殘酷的“清剿扫蕩”。这本小說用生动的事实說明了:为什么在軍事力量敌强我弱的情况下,我們反而能够战胜敌人的道理。《風雪兒女》写的是1946年11月到1947年初这短短的三四个月中,在魯西南湖西地区,以單县四区王砦村为中心的艰苦斗爭。这正是蔣介石撕毁停战协定,向解放区發动全面进攻的初期,也是对山东重点进攻的前夜,正是当地斗爭越来越艰苦的时候。小說一开头,就是写老百姓在寒冬的荒野里剜野菜的艰苦情景。当时粮食是有的,只是埋藏起来了。为了不讓敌人拿到粮食,人民不得不剜野菜紅芋充飢。在这样的情况下,人們一听說
