以高岭土为主料的炼油裂化催化半合成剂(FCC剂),已成为中外石化工业的主体催化剂,我国仅有苏州高岭土为适用资源,缺口大。贵州及川南地区为世界上埃洛石的唯一连片产区,已有产地近300处,全区均为管状10A埃洛石。成矿模式归结为:新第三纪以来,高岭石母岩在表生条件下,遭受淋滤作用和合矿液对下伏碳酸盐基岩的溶蚀,两种作用同步进行的“埋藏溶蚀成矿作用”。在FCC剂中,埃洛石的内外比表面积,孔容及煅烧保留率、孔径分布、微活指数、轻油转化率及渣(重)油裂解力等指标,均优于我国催化剂标准用土─—苏机B─1,这些优异的炼油催化特性,均源于埃洛石的独特矿物结构。
