雕刻艺术在中国非常广泛,我们能看到的大部分石窟,比如龙门、云岗、敦煌石窟,都有雕刻艺术。再有就是帝王墓道上的石刻,比如唐代的乾陵,明孝陵、明十三陵,清东陵、西陵,墓道上都有雕刻。但我现在要讲的雕刻限定在可以把玩的、陈设案头的小件雕刻。雕刻工艺在远古时代就有了,古人一开始用于雕刻的主要材料都取自动物或植物,
The art of carving is very extensive in China. Most of the grottoes we can see such as the Dragon Gate, Yungang and Dunhuang Grottoes have carved art. Then there is the stone carvings on the emperors’ tomb, such as the Qianling Tang Dynasty, the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, the Ming Tombs, the Qing Tombs, the Xiling and the Tomb Passages.
