绿绒蒿是一大类植物的总称,属于罂粟科植物。全世界约有五十种,其中百分之八十的种类,都分布于我国的西南地区。绿绒蒿多出现于高寒山区,能生长在海拔3000—4000米的高山草地或高山森林边缘以及流石滩等地。为一年生或多年生草本植物,全身被有绒毛、硬毛或刺毛。这些不同类型的毛,有助于植物体抗御高山的凛冽风寒。
