Reflections on English Teaching in Senior high School Under the Background of New Curriculum Reform

  【Abstract】Under the background of education reform, it is necessary to do well in English teaching research in senior high school. To achieve the goal of improving the effect of English teaching, we should insist on promoting the development of students in teaching, implement the requirements of new curriculum reform, and improve students’ English ability.

  With the rapid development of information technology, great changes have taken place in education industry. As for high school English teaching, it is necessary to start with cultivating students’ English ability, carry out educational innovation with advanced educational ideas and methods, and make students feel fun when learning English.
  Ⅰ.Update ideas
  In the traditional education mode, teachers always occupy the main part of the class, and students can only passively accept what the teachers tell them, so the learning pressure keeps increasing. However, under the background of the new curriculum reform, we begin to pay attention to creating a teaching atmosphere for students in class and keeping students’ learning enthusiasm. Teachers should timely guide students, do a good job of teaching design with the help of goals, and maintain students’ learning enthusiasm while clarifying the law of language. When focusing on the principle of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, students’ differences can be grasped and targeted educational goals can be formulated. At the same time, diversified teaching methods are adopted. For example, multimedia technology can be introduced in teaching to stimulate students’ vision and hearing and create real English situations for students .
  And we can’t forget teachers’ professional ability is also a great factor in teaching. Schools should organize teachers to participate in professional training from different perspectives, help teachers master advanced educational ideas and methods, and provide support for improving classroom teaching effect. Schools should also actively organize teachers to participate in training programs, master professional educational skills, and solve students’ problems in class .
  Ⅱ. Innovate the content of education
  In order to improve the quality of English teaching in senior high school, we must insist on listening, speaking, reading and writing to find the right entry point for education. As the carrier of improving English efficiency, teachers should do a good job in enriching work and inspiring students’ desire to learn. First,based on the classroom content, give play to the advantages of network resources, integrate the educational content, and change the problems existing in the traditional educational mode. For example, students can be organized to adapt “Pride and Prejudice” in teaching. We can also use multimedia to play the movie to help students master the background and plot of the movie and divide the students into several groups and ask them to act out the stories. Through mutual cooperation and preparation, the group members could adapt the play into an ornamental play with their own understanding. Teachers can also comment on the performance of students in each group together with others, and make students clear their shortcomings by asking questions and exploring, so as to exercise their spirit of cooperation. This teaching method can not only stimulate students’ desire for innovation, but also improve their comprehensive ability. Second, create open teaching space. Through the study of the teaching content, find out the starting point of teaching, integrate the teaching content to create an open space for students, show students’ subjectivity, exercise students’ practical ability. Since this space is of great significance to the development of students, teachers are required to timely adjust the teaching schedule, ensure the activity of teaching, and use different links to keep students fresh. Under the background of the new curriculum reform, it is necessary to liberate from the traditional education mode, change the classroom structure, clarify the advantages and disadvantages of students, and encourage students to play freely. As one of the international common languages, English requires students to master English skills and English culture. By collecting relevant materials and supplementation after class, students can further extend their level of knowledge, enrich their feelings and exercise their ability to process information.   Ⅲ.Have a good teaching design
  In order to improve the teaching effect, it is necessary to start with making a good teaching design. First, take the students as the foundation and complete the transformation work. Under the background of educational reform, it is necessary to do a good job in educational innovation and perfect teaching ideas and concepts. Teaching is to enable students to learn better, master the right to learn methods and skills. Therefore, teachers should start from showing students’ subjectivity, help students turn the knowledge they have learned into their own ability, and realize the goal of knowledge internalization. Meanwhile, we should stimulate students’ thinking desire and encourage them to participate in practical activities. Second, make sure the lesson preparation is scientific. Students’ cognitive characteristics and abilities should be mastered. Based on the realization of educational objectives, flexibility of teaching should be ensured, and students should be graded according to the characteristics. Third, we should pay attention to students’ learning status. In the stage of preparing lessons, we should start from the scientific use of teaching materials, combine students’ knowledge and level to do a good job in problem design, to create a teaching situation for students, so that students are subtly affected. Lastly, improve the utilization of textbooks. Give full play to the advantages of innovative education in the new curriculum reform, integrate the specific situation of students, and extend the scope of education while reorganizing the content of teaching materials. Only when we grasp the specific situation of students, can we design targeted teaching methods and plans. Therefore, teachers should do a good job in preparing lessons, ensure the rationality of each step division, and achieve teaching objectives .
  Ⅳ.Carry out classroom management
  On the one hand, we must be clear about our teaching objectives. In specific teaching, the following steps should be carried out: In terms of knowledge and skills, students’ basic skills should be exercised to help them master the language structure, improve their reading ability, and encourage them to express their own views. In terms of process and method, students’ autonomous learning ability should be exercised and their application ability should be cultivated in combination with the specific context. In terms of emotion and values, we should stimulate students’ interest in learning, help them develop a correct learning attitude, and improve their comprehensive quality while extending their knowledge horizon. Therefore, when designing teaching objectives, it is necessary to start with students’ thinking process, grasp students’ learning needs, and improve the cognitive structure with thinking changes .   On the other hand, we have to optimize and adjust the teaching process. We should start from improving students’ vocabulary, increase teaching activities and integrate teaching projects in combination with students’ English level. As an important carrier in current teaching, textbook is highly authoritative. The teacher must do well in the classroom arrangement, unify the students’ concrete situation to adjust the teaching content. For example, students can be organized to carry out the activity of “Talk show with passion” in teaching, and students are required to express their ideas with the help of words and sentence patterns they have mastered. When they encounter words they do not understand, they should consult the dictionary to understand them, so as to deepen their impression of learning. Also, students should be given some autonomy from creating a learning environment, encouraged to put forward their own opinions, and guided to analyze their own shortcomings so as to correct their own problems. Finally, teachers should help students in a timely manner, create a reasonable classroom atmosphere through interaction with students, bring students into learning activities, integrate course resources, stimulate students’ thinking desire and exercise their independent learning ability.
  Conclusion: To sum up, under the background of new curriculum reform, teachers will still make great efforts in the future, from the perspective of the students’ future development and integration of the high school English teaching content. Teachers can do a lot such as changing the education idea, motivating students, making students want to learn, to achieve the teaching goal.
