印度英语作家奇坦.巴哈特主要以印度当代青年为描写对象,表现他们在印度现代化进程中的生活、学习、爱情、婚姻等问题。他所塑造的年轻女主人公,以独立、自信的形象特征获得众多女性的认可和喜爱,成为印度当代女性的象征和渴望。本文通过分析小说中她们在文化身份和社会身份上所呈现出的特点,表达了印度当代女性身份认同方式的转变。
Indian English writer Chitan Bahat mainly describes contemporary Indian youth as objects of their life, study, love, marriage and other issues in the process of Indian modernization. The young heroine he created has won the recognition and love of many women with independent and confident image features and has become the symbol and the longing for contemporary Indian women. By analyzing their characteristics in cultural and social identities, this article expresses the transformation of the contemporary Indian women’s identity.
