A high power HeNe laser with a rectangular discharge cross section was successfully developed with a discharge length of 1.7 m, a discharge cross section of 4.5 × 20 mm 2 and an output power of 200 mW or more. This article outlines its design and features. Briefly discuss its experimental results.
